Change in action

The story

Two years ago, Dahiben (54) and Bhupatbhai Parmar of Makanchampa village were caught in a cycle of struggle—running a diesel pump that burned 10 litres a day, yet barely irrigated their one-acre farm. High costs, low returns, and sleepless nights left them with stress and no savings.

Then came a turning point in 2024.

With support from HDFC Parivartan, CINI, and Nessa Group, they switched to a solar water pump. The change was immediate—no diesel, lower costs, and reliable irrigation.

In two years, they saved 7,200 litres of fuel, cut ₹35,000 in monthly expenses, and turned their farm into a thriving hub. Their system now supports 25 farmers, irrigating 20 acres at lower cost, while their own income rose to ₹46,000 a month. With drip irrigation, organic practices, and new crops, their farm turned greener and more productive and also prevented approximately 19.3 metric tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to driving a car for nearly 70,000 kilometers.

For Dahiben, the biggest win is peace—no more sleepless nights, more control over her time, and a better life for her family.

From hardship to hope, her story shows how solar power can transform not just a farm—but a future.
